Fazenda Bananal

Immersion in the forest, culture, history and gastronomy of Paraty.

Just a few minutes from Paraty Old Town Centre, Fazenda Bananal offers a genuine immersion experience in the Atlantic Forest, on an original 17th-century farm with 180 hectares of preserved area.

For our visitors, we offer experiences of connection with nature and Paraty's culture, in harmony with the city's main events, as well as socio-environmental projects with regional communities and institutions.

Guided Visit

Guided Visit

A complete tour that connects nature, culture and innovation. The route includes the Historic Farmhouse and its exhibitions, the Naturalized Park, the Forest Path, the Sustainable Technologies space, the enchanting Hummingbird Garden, the Mini SAF and Vegetable Garden, plus the playful Forest Kitchen.

Birdwatching

Birdwatching

The Atlantic Forest is home to some of the planet's most beautiful and rare birds, and Paraty is one of their sanctuaries. In this silent and guided walk, you'll have the opportunity to observe native species in their natural habitat, learn identification techniques and understand the importance of birdlife for ecosystem balance.

PANCs - Unconventional Food Plants

PANCs - Unconventional Food Plants

Far beyond nutrition, PANCs carry stories and knowledge passed down by quilombola, indigenous and caiçara generations, who see the forest as a space for healing, food and cultural resistance. In this experience, you'll discover little-explored species, learn their traditional uses and find out how they can renew our relationship with food and sustainability. The tour ends deliciously: in the collective production of a PANC ice cream, made with ingredients from the forest itself.

Agroforestry Immersion

Agroforestry Immersion

Bananal Farm houses three Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) in full production that currently generate 98 different products, including fruits, vegetables, roots and spices. In this immersion, we show how agroforestry integrates agriculture and forest in harmony, promoting soil regeneration, increased biodiversity and healthier food. It's a dive into a sustainable agriculture model that transforms how we relate to the land and inspires a more resilient future.

Getting to Know Stingless Bees

Getting to Know Stingless Bees

Native bees are silent protagonists of the Atlantic Forest. Among them, the yellow uruçu beecelebrated by Alceu Valença in his song "Mel de Uruçu" — is one of the jewels of this experience. An educational, sensory and enchanting activity for all ages.

Mycotrail

Mycotrail

Beneath the forest floor, mycelium creates an invisible network that connects trees, plants and roots in a communication system vital to life in the Atlantic Forest. On Bananal's Mycotrail, we observe fungi in their role as decomposers and regenerators. And if the experience takes place at night, we may have the privilege of spotting bioluminescent mushrooms, witnessing the forest's secret light.

Juçara: Knowing to Conserve

Juçara: Knowing to Conserve

The juçara palm is a source of life for countless Atlantic Forest species, especially in winter, when its flowering sustains birds and animals during times of scarcity. In this workshop, we participate in producing a juçara seed bomb, an essential tool for reforestation, while learning about its ecological importance. The experience ends with a tasting of juçaí, a sustainable and regenerative alternative to traditional açaí.

Composting and Nutrient Cycle

Composting and Nutrient Cycle

In this hands-on experience, we learn how food scraps convert into natural fertilizer through composting, closing the nutrient cycle. At Fazenda Bananal, even organic waste left by visitors returns to the earth, regenerates the soil and feeds the agroforestry gardens, which in turn provide fresh ingredients for the restaurant.

SpecialSunday Lunch
